Published Oct 05, 2020Last year, Adam Sandler turned in an Oscar-worthy performance as NBA-affiliated jeweller Howie Ratner in Uncut Gems, while Kyle Lowry played a starring role in guiding the Toronto Raptors to their first-ever NBA championship. Now, the pair will continue their winning ways together in a new basketball film.
Sandler and Lowry will appear in Hustle, a forthcoming Netflix film produced by LeBron James under his SpringHill Entertainment company.
First announced in May, Hustle will find Sandler starring as an American basketball scout who brings an international player to the United States, looking to prove they both have what it takes to make the NBA. While the film has yet to receive a release date, Jeremiah Zagar is attached to direct.
Sandler revealed Lowry's involvement in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week (September 30), sharing that he was in the Raptors guard's home city of Philadelphia for production.
"I'm getting ready to do a basketball movie, a scout movie where I'm playing an NBA scout and I discover a player in Spain and I bring him to America. It's that kind of story, it's going to be really cool," Sandler said of the project.
He noted that it features "loads of NBA guys," sharing that Lowry would be "coming by to do a quick little thing" for the film.
Sandler will also line up alongside NBA icon Shaquille O'Neal in Hubie Halloween, which is due to hit Netflix on October 7. You can find his chat with Kimmel below.
