Published Feb 28, 2020Dixie Chicks have hinted at their return, sharing a tiny snippet of new music and mysterious social media teasers.
The band emerged on Twitter to share a dictionary definition of "gaslighter" and a clip that hears the three-piece singing that same word.
The definition reads: "a psychological manipulator who seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a group, making them question their own memory, perception or sanity."
Many are assuming that the band are set to return with a new song called "Gaslighter" on the teased date of March 4.
Frontwoman Natalie Maines has even been teasing a video shoot for the song, which features additional snippets of new music.
The band's Wikipedia page also already has a new album called Gaslighter added to the Chicks' discography.
Beginning in 2018, Maines shared footage of the band in the studio with producer Jack Antonoff. She also revealed that they had written songs with Teddy Geiger.
Dixie Chicks have not released a new album since 2006's Taking the Long Way, which followed boycotts and backlash over comments Maines made about George W. Bush.
They have, however, released prominent collaborations with Beyoncé and Taylor Swift in recent years.
