After capping off a month-long tour across Canada, Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Joshua Hyslop is marking his return with a new EP titled Embers. The record arrives in full today from Nettwerk, and you can now listen to it in its entirety.

The four-track record's folk-leaning indie sound lends itself to the healing powers of hopefulness. In the midst of his busy life in the road, Hyslop turned to writing music to help cope with the anxiety and stress of transient living.

"I do a lot of solo touring and, for someone who can feel pretty low sometimes, that can be hard to do," said Hyslop in a statement. "I started working on this song on tour when I'd start to feel down or worried or anxious, as a way of writing myself some hope. It's my own way of telling myself to hang in there and to keep moving forward."

Alongside the record, today you can also watch Hyslop's brand new music video for "Ash & Stone." The moody visuals mirror the loneliness in the record, showing a man driving through baron deserts, sleeping on the side of the road and picking up hitchhikers.

Embers was recorded at Afterlife Studios and follows the release of Hyslop's latest full-length record, 2018's Echos.
