Charly Bliss Join a Creepy Cult in "Chatroom" Video
The song comes from the band's new 'Young Enough' album
Published Mar 06, 2019Charly Bliss recently revealed plans for their upcoming LP Young Enough, and now the Brooklyn-based band have delivered a video for album cut "Chatroom."
Despite the upbeat, pop-leaning sound of the song, its origins come from a much darker moment in frontwoman Eva Hendricks' life.
"I was sexually assaulted by someone I dated and I wrote 'Chatroom,' and most of Young Enough, as a way of processing that experience and explaining it to myself," she said in a statement. "'Chatroom' is a song about reaching ecstatic joy through consuming rage. Simply put, it's a colossal 'fuck you' and a celebration of reaching the point of a 'fuck you' that isn't diluted by self-blame or apologies."
The accompanying video was directed by Maegan Houang, and it depicts a cult leader brainwashing his following of young women. Watch the video for "Chatroom" below.
As previously reported, Young Enough is due out May 10 via Barsuk Records. The band also have a series of tour dates coming up, and you can see them all here.
