Metallica Are Publishing a Book of Photography from 'The Black Album'
More news from Metallica! Following their recently announced 30th anniversary reissue of The Black Album and a massive covers compilation, the band have now reveaeld they're also releasing Metallica: The Black Album in Black & White — a new photo book.

The tome will feature photographs taken by Ross Halfin during the album sessions and on tour between 1991 and 1993. Alongside the Black Album reissue and covers comp, the book is slated to hit shelves on October 19.

The book of both classic and previously unpublished photos will also include introductions written by the photographer and the band: James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, then-bassist Jason Newsted and current-bassist Robert Trujillo, who played on part of the 300-date tour in his band Suicidal Tendencies.

Halfin's collection of performance photos from this landmark era for Metallica are mixed in with portrait sessions and candid, backstage shots from the road.

In a statement, Metallica drummer Ulrich said of the book: "By the time the songs and the recording were coming together, the confidence level was at an all-time high and we felt better than ever about who we were and how we viewed ourselves with regards to being photographed."

Metallica: The Black Album in Black & White is now available for pre-order.
