Slipknot's Corey Taylor Calls Nickelback's Chad Kroeger "Captain Ego from Planet Douche"
He also said the other members of Nickelback called him to apologize for Kroeger's comments
Published Jul 27, 2017The world is a divisive and hateful place, full of animosity and pain. And while we wish we could report something positive as a respite from the constant suffering, we've got more bad news: The beef between Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor is as potent as ever.
In case you've forgotten the details of 2017's most vicious pissing contest, it all started when Kroeger referred to Stone Sour as "Nickelback Lite." From there, Taylor compared Kroeger's face to a foot and said that the butt-rock frontman reminds him of KFC.
Taylor has always maintained that the other members of Nickelback (all of whom, we're pretty sure, are named Ryan) have been fairly chill dudes to him. Keeping with that story, Taylor said that they actually called him to apologize for Kroeger's comments.
In a new interview with 93.3 WMMR [via Alternative Press], Taylor said he's still down with Kroeger's bandmates. "As soon as that story hit, the band called and apologized," Taylor said. "They were like, 'It's not us. We promise. It's this guy. We don't...' And I had hung out with the band before, and they're super cool dudes. So I was, like... Well, I figured it wasn't them.
"So I don't want people holding it against the band, because it's not them. It's Captain Ego from Planet Douche."
Kroeger has previously complained that Taylor actually started the fight by trash-talking Nickelback, though that's a claim that Taylor takes issue with. "I mean, I said something maybe, like, fifteen years ago, but I was drinking then; nobody was listening to me then," he said. "And I hadn't said anything since; I don't even think about him. For real. This came so far out of left field that I woke up to everyone, like, blowing me up. And I was, like, 'Really?'"
The whole thing begs one important question: When will these hard rock guys put their differences aside and make up? The world needs this right now.
